A poem I wrote for my Dad:
“A Daughter’s Poem About Fathers”
Fathers are gifts from heaven-
sent to us from up above.
Teachers, providers, and protectors-
earthly reflections of God’s love.
A father struggles to provide-
his life for his children a sacrifice.
His love for them never a burden-
for him it is never too high a price.
A father teaches his children-
the difference between wrong and right.
And raises his children up-
to be arrows shot in the night.
His sons grow up to carry on his name-
and they bring him joy and pride.
And his daughters he walks down the aisle-
each one a beautiful and perfect bride.
But a father’s work is not complete.
No, his job is never done.
He watches over and carefully guides-
each sweet daughter and sturdy son.
Yes, a father is a gift from God-
a conduit of His grace.
And I’m proud to be my father’s daughter-
born of his blood and wearing his face.
I thank my Heavenly Father-
for my earthly one, you see.
For without the man I call, “Father,”
I would not have come to be!
